Sources of LIght
The book we are reading is called Sources of Light. The story is set in Jackson, Mississippi in 1962 and looks at the life of 14 year old Samantha who has moved there with her mother after the death of her father in Vietnam.
As we are reading this book we are identifying figurative language (similies, metaphors, idioms) exploring vocabulary and noting differences in her world and our own. Today when time to stop reading came, people groaned and complained!
Humanities Camp Begins!
Here at Saint Albans City School we were very fortunate to get a grant from the Vermont Humanities Council to host our own Summer Camp! Students entering grades 5-9 will spend two weeks using photography to explore the power of photography and how it can shape our world and who we are! This blog is going to allow us to share our adventures and experiences with the world!
